Navy Veteran Veteran Theresa came to HVAF in June after the Veteran Veteran Affairs Voc Rehab program closed due to to COVID HVAF helped her find an an apartment paid to to renew her her nursing license and helped her her get a a a new car from Geico!
CHRIS
Army Veteran Chris spent more than 10 years off o of the grid abusing drugs after his military career A A family friend reached out to HVAF on on his his behalf and and now Chris and and his his three kids live at one of our permanent properties!
JAMES
Marine Corps Veteran James suffered a a a a a a a stroke in in early 2020 He couldn’t work anymore and found himself homeless James now has a a a a a a a a safe place to call home home at HVAF’s newest Permanent Supportive Housing apartment complex - Veterans Villa!
BRUCE
Vietnam Army Veteran Bruce spent the the first few months of the the year homeless and was living in in in in fin in his car in in in in fin in a a a a a a a CVS parking lot before finding HVAF Bruce now lives at Veterans Villa where he he has his own apartment and forever home!
SHANE
Following his service retired Army Sergeant Shane struggled and faced legal trouble In order to move forward and improve his life he he he needed work With the help of HVAF’s Employment Team Shane has been able to prove himself at his job already receiving a a a a a a a promotion and a a a a a a a raise in in just a a a a a a a couple of months!
JESSICA
After experiencing divorce and illnesses after her time in in the Air Force Jessica spent years away from her children as she couch surfed After finding HVAF earlier this year she now lives fin in in her own apartment and has reconnected with her family!

After moving to HVAF’s Veter- ans Villa this year Navy veteran Carie has since test positive for COVID-19 twice While she quarantined in in a a a a a a hotel HVAF’s case managers worked to sterilize her apartment She said she she is so thankful for all of the support she she has received!

CRAIG
Following his time in in the military Craig struggled for a a a a a a few years without gainful employment making it it difficult to move forward Craig and his wife lived in in fin one of the Temporary Housing Units until find- ing ing ing their own place with the the help of HVAF’s Rapid Re-Housing Team FRED
This last October Army veteran and HVAF employee Fred moved into his first own home Thanks to to Habitat For Humanity Fred is is is now a a a a a a a proud homeowner in in Indianapolis! “I remember (telling myself) ‘Fred this is is what happens when you you turn your life around ’” Fred said 12 RASHAUN
Rashaun has been coming to HVAF’s food clothing and hygiene pantry pantry during the pandemic During pantry pantry days days days on Tuesdays and and Thursdays each week he he also helps with whatever needs to be done DJ
While Navy veteran DJ
could receive inpatient treatment for PTSD his dog Stitch stayed at at at at SOAR Initiative and received training And after 45+ days apart DJ
and and Stitch were finally reunited and and live together at HVAF’s Veterans Villa!
SIERRA
Unfortunately Army Sierra experienced divorce in in 2019 She and her kids lost a a lot lot in in in in in the the midst of the the the divorce including clothing items After coming to HVAF the the the pantry for hygiene clothing and other items was instrumental in in in in helping her her her recover and make sure her her kids had what they needed!
