IN IN JANUARY 2019 PAMELA CAME TO TO HVAF AS A A A A A A A A A A HOMELESS VETERAN NINE MONTHS LATER SHE RECEIVED THE KEYS TO TO HER OWN HOME HOME In January Army veteran Pamela reached out to HVAF for help She had lost her her her job and and and and needed a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a home HVAF case manager Amanda moved Pamela into one of its fits transitional houses and and and and helped her her obtain her her social security and and and and disability benefits “When I I I started here here I I I didn’t have too many goals goals or know where I I I was supposed to to to go go go ” ” Pamela said “HVAF has really helped me to to accomplish my goals goals ” She also said she she she loved being at at HVAF because of the the the special perks: free haircuts spa days a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a hospitality room where where she she she can can watch movies with other veterans
a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a computer lab where where she she she can can work on her her her her resume and the the the yummy cookouts After nine months Pamela received disability benefits and moved into her own home!
“This is is is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a day I I I will never forget ” ” Pamela said as she opened the door into her new apartment in in in downtown Indianapolis “I want to to to thank everyone for for helping me me me get get to to to this place ” ” After settling into her her new place Pamela’s Pamela’s time time at HVAF isn’t finished When our Hospitality Room was was open (it is is is currently closed due to to to COVID-19) Pamela’s Pamela’s smiling face was was always there - - ready to to to spend time time with with any veteran veteran who who walked through the the the the the the doors Not only did she she hang out with with the the the the the the veterans
